Steps of Freedom

So today was crazy, another day of God revealing Himself in so many ways. One of my friends finished going through Steps of Freedom. Basically, the idea of Steps of Freedom stems from the story of Job in the Bible having a hedge of protection around him to keep away from the attacks and temptations of Satan. Satan could not tempt or do anything to Job without first getting the permission from God. As Christians, we are offered freedom in Christ from the things of our past whether it may be sins of our family line, occultic practices, sexual sins, unforgiveness, rebellion, and anything else that may be hindering us from receiving the fullness of God's love for us. So by praying over these specific areas of sin, we can ask God to forgive us of our sins, and we renounce the strongholds that Satan my still be holding onto in our lives even after years of being a Christian.

So, we went through the Steps of Freedom with one of my friends, and it was amazing to see the transformation that God brought about in my friends life. It would have taken months, maybe years of therapy to get over the things my friend had been through in his past. However, by the grace of God, he was set free from many of the things that were barriers to him receiving the love of God. It was crazy to see the Holy Spirit totally fill him up.

It is definitely going to be a long road ahead of him, and it's definitely not going to be easy. There may be things that come up that he will have to do it, but he is a child of God now and no one can snatch him from the fathers hand. While we were praying with him, our pastor had a prophetic word for my friend confirming God's love and delight for him.

I guess all in all, I am learning more and more about the love that God has for us. God doesn't want us to suffer or be weighed down by the sins of our past. No matter how far we fallen or no matter how filthy we may we think we are, God loves us the same. He knows the depths of our hearts, and yet he loves us. We may have nothing to offer him, but our lives full of filth and sin. Yet God accepts what we have to offer him, and he cleanses us white as snow.

I probably can go on more talking about this....but I need to study for a test tomorrow (last one of the year! woot!)....and I really have to go pee ;)
